To fix such issues with Photo Booth you must understand the root cause of the problem and how the application works. Photo Booth may experience all or any of the above issue due to multiple possible reasons which are majorly related to the limitation of memory and resources available for the program, permissions issue or a hardware fault with iSight Camera or other associated hardware. Photo Booth recording has video and audio out of sync.Photo Booth freezes after taking picture and no picture shows up.Photo Booth freezes after every 30 seconds while recording videos. And if you press stop button when you are done recording you get the infamous “spinning wheel of death” or a Beach Ball sign. You may face following other issue with Photo Booth as reported by many users. Sometimes the app freezes so often, even right after you begin recording,so for sure it’s not an issue caused by length/size of a video being recorded.

Photo Booth is also a memory and processor intensive program like any other video recording software. It is recommended to avoid using other applications during recording, as they can steal computing bandwidth and video quality can degrade. Most of the Mac users have reported that Photo Booth application freezes and crashes in the middle of recording a video or it may experience freezing/lagging issue. Pictures and videos taken by Photo Booth are saved to ~/Pictures/Photo Booth Library but to see the pictures or videos you will have to right click on the Photo Booth Library and select “Show Package Contents” From there you will find all your photos and videos inside another folder called “Pictures”.Videos and photos you take with the program can be shared using iChat, email and social networks. Photo Booth is mostly used in applying special effects like Swirl effect, frog, Chipmunks and replacing the background in the photo or video being taken or the one that has already been taken. It is very limited in features and not very robust: To do serious recording, it is highly recommended to use iMovie or QuickTime Video Recording or a dedicated third-party application. Photo Booth is a recreational application, used for fun and personal video recording.

M4V files can be converted to MP4 format just by renaming its extension if it is not protected. M4V files are very similar to MP4 file formats but it may optionally be protected by DRM copy protection. Videos captured by Photo Booth are by default saved in MOV or M4V extensions which are the video file format developed by Apple Inc. which is available in both Mac computers and iPads (on the iPad and iPad Mini available starting with the iPad 2). and first introduced in OS X 10.5 for taking photos and videos with an iSight camera by Apple Inc. I have 477.96 GB of 999.35 GB remaining on the hard drive and I am using 9.97 GB of 16 GB of RAM according to Activity Monitor.Photo Booth is an application developed by Apple Inc. I have tried restarting my computer and repairing disk permissions, but I still encounter the same problem. I am using OS X version 10.9.5 and quicktime version 10.3. However, any visuals after the six second mark are the same frame. This does not freeze my entire computer or cause Quicktime to crash I am able to do everything I would normally do after I hit end, including save the file, import the file to iMovie, and close quicktime without forcing it to quit.

When I am recording my screen, there is no indication that this has occurred, and my screen moves and behaves normally for the duration that I am recording (no error messages or anything).

This happens regardless of the length of the video I am recording (and I usually record for under three minutes). However, recently after I finish a recording and go to play it or use it in iMovie, the video consistantly freezes about six seconds after I hit play and holds that frame for the remaining time.

I have been using Quicktime Player to record my screen and make videos with iMovie.
